Ruminations
A beautiful, sunny day with a cutting cold wind that was just frigid! This time of year the weather is always a challenge, especially if the wind is getting cold. The leaves are still hanging on but they’ll all fall soon and it will be sad, bleak and grey! Jerry was getting excited today and ran all over the house. He probably suspects that his birthday is tomorrow and he’s searching for presents… happily rooting through everything (I’m a terrible pet parent, I didn’t get his gift in time!) Don is a little tired today; he had a good bit of difficulty falling asleep last night. He was up until early this morning and dozed off this afternoon for a few hours.
I had a small attack of “digestive distress” for which I can’t account. It didn’t last very long, thankfully, but was uncomfortable nonetheless. My appetite is still fairly decent, but I’m concerned that I may not be gaining weight. The nurse pointed out that my loss of weight makes it more painful for me when I’m sleeping… true enough! I dislike that intensely. We had a small hiccup today with my IV… the nurse didn’t call last night and I’d not received any notification by 10am, so I called the agency, who said that my orders had expired, so they couldn’t administer the rest of the IV. Message to my doctor’s office, a long discussion with the agency, and they assigned someone at 4pm. I explained that meant being on the drip until after midnight which would disrupt my night, so we delayed until tomorrow.
I was watching a number of food vloggers last night, from the US and UK. The UK ones were making me drool for the most part, while the US ones were exhibitions of gluttony… competitions of a man trying to eat something like 10ths of meat in a limited time, or a 10” pizza in under 10 minutes or gigantic BBQ platters… it was sickening to watch. What is it with Americans and their gigantic portions of food? I will admit to being tempted by the lobster rolls which looked awesome, but was much less so by the all-you-can-eat seafood extravaganza which just looked like the participants were shovelling food and not really enjoying anything. Pity really. On the other hand, there were the meals taht were severely overpriced, like USD$60 for a hamburger! Or $5 for a single chip (French fry) Obscene, really.
In case anyone is interested, the Chinese soap opera ended with a not-Hollywood happy ending, with some very exaggerated conversations and threats of violence without any real harm. I had a good indulgence and it’s a delightfully silly show. I won’t be watching any more, but it was fun while it lasted.
I’m going in search of a meal now; I’m beginning to get hungry, which is a good thing! Good night.
