OK

Ah, autumn… You know I’m not thrilled with colder weather; today was comparatively mild, but it’s definitely getting cooler.  Expect some major whining as the temperature drops.  You’ve been warned 😜  I’m watching a small dog stretching and rolling all over the sofa… he’s being all wriggly and playful since my worker left.  Don’s knee is giving him considerable difficulty, and he’s walking very slowly and with pain.  He says that it’s “clicking” and it “sticks” so he has more pain.

So I apologize for causing so much worry yesterday.  I appreciate your care and concern, I do.  I’m OK today; I slept deeply last night without the need of any medications and made up for the night before.  I also got my other pain meds, that are less dramatic in their effect on my sleep, but I only needed 1 in the middle of the afternoon, so that’s also great.  I woke up this morning absolutely ravenous, and had a really good meal.  Happy to report that I’ve been able to eat some curry and my tummy hasn’t protested.  Cue happy dances as I’ll be able to gradually reintroduce my comfort food to my diet.

I have to admit to a level of weakness here… after yesterday’s incident, I am terrified of falling again.  Since it was from a loss of balance (and dizziness from standing) I’m concerned about things like getting into and out of the shower, or getting up from a seat and so on.  I don’t like this.  It’s evidence that I’m less strong than I was and my ability to be independent is being affected.  I’m going to have to work on my fear so it doesn’t spoil my day.

In PSW chronicles, I got a new one today.  I’d asked for the person who comes on Friday (my 2-hour day) to be switched because she was just wasting time, plus when she did my laundry, it came back from the dryer literally dripping.  I originally believed her when she said that the machines weren’t working properly (plausible) but after 4 weeks I realized that she didn’t know how to use the dryer, and it has cost me quite a bit as I’d have to redo the laundry (she’d leave it wet, so it began to smell) I called the agency and reported her.  Anyway, today’s person called and I had to strain to hear her… she sounded like she’d just woken up.  She arrived and walked straight in.” I’ve told everyone to please call before they come in, even if it’s at my door, because of Jerry, who is noisy and protective.  Luckily Don had already taken him to the other room, so no issue.  I asked her to do a sponge bath for me, and told here where to find clean clothes.  I said, “the bedroom is the door at the end of the hall, with the wreath on the door.”  She opened the linen closet (halfway down the hall)  I said that my underwear was in the top drawer of the chest of drawers, which is next to the door.  She “couldn’t find the chest of drawers” and pulls out a swimsuit bottom which was in a completely different area.  She brought out the men’s body wash and I sent her back for mine (I’d told her which one) and she “couldn’t find” the towel — that hangs on the rack.  In the bathroom.  That was just the beginning… I had to wonder about her condition — hearing, comprehension, facility in English or French… — and I couldn’t toss her out fast enough.  Why?  Why do I get these people who try my patience?

That’s all for today; I’m going to find something interesting for supper.  I’ve been registered for Meals on Wheels” so that should help me with food issues.  Some budget juggling to take place, as it’s about $300/month if I order 31 meals.  We’ll see how it goes.  Good night.
