Resting

Still cool weather, and I’ve been bundled in either my sweater or a blanket all day.  Looks like rain, but so far it’s just overcast, so we watch and see.  I was a dog bed today, until my legs got badly scratched by little puppy claws and he got evicted.  He does not approve of that!  Don was OK, and his appetite was good, so I’m pleased.

I don’t know why I’m so sleepy!  I went to sleep around 9:30 last night, woke briefly twice, and could not get up this morning!  I’d have easily slept until 1 if I didn’t push myself out of bed!  Had some light meals today; unfortunately the leftover Chinese from 2 nights ago had gone bad when I took it out of the fridge today; the chicken definitely smelled off! So into the garbage it had to go!

I’ll be busy for the next few days… my laptop from the Cancer Society arrived this afternoon so I’ll be getting it set up and getting used to working in Windows again!  Been a while, so… yeah.  Among other things is how to transfer files from my iPad (with no USB connection) to the laptop, and remembering passwords!  Wish me luck!  For reasons known only to the gremlins, my iPad refuses to work the the CCS software after having worked beautifully for the past 4 years!  The lovely coordinator arranged the loaner, had it shipped out so I can keep working this year…

I spoke with my social worker and she’s working on getting me mobility aids.  There’s at least a 2 month waiting list, but we’ll see what can be arranged so that I have at least some help moving on my less good days!  That’s all for now; I hear Jerry getting into mischief so I’d better put a stop to it.  Good night

First of all, happy Hanukkah to all those celebrating.  I wish your families peace and light in this season of miracles!  The first menorah candles were lit at sunset in City Hall today, and on the Hill, so I add my wishes to all of those.  It was bitterly cold today again, all of -18 when I had to head off to my appointment.  It’s also a record-setting day in Ottawa; we’ve had 59 consecutive hours of snowfall this week and it looks like it wants to try to break that record already.  It was the little fine, driving snow, which blows hard but doesn’t accumulate quickly; it’s dry enough to be brushed off, but the wind makes up for that!  Jerry curled up in my lap, shivering, and wouldn’t move on the way home.  Don was a superstar, taking me to the hospital and waiting… they told me it would be about an hour, but the chemo unit was running a bit late, plus there was all the fun of them saying that they didn’t have my blood work, so lots of excitement.  It worked out well, and I was about

The surprise!

Gee, I look like my mom in this photo.  Although I suppose that I look like her anyway, but it stands out more here.  I’ll get more into this in a minute, I need to fill you in on other stuff.  First off, the weather is busy being Ottawa winter grey and gloomy, so it’s not encouraging in the slightest.  Dark when you wake up, overcast during the day, dark early… no wonder Jerry doesn’t want to be away from people and cuddles!  He’s perfectly happy to sit on a lap and be stroked when he’s not rampaging around playing with his toy!  Don didn’t sleep too well last night; according to him, he ‘missed his cue’ to go to bed and was awake for hours watching… yes, you guessed it!  He napped a little this morning, but I hope he’ll get a better rest tonight.  Although it’s Saturday, and that means… 🏒 and tomorrow is 🏈 so I’ll just dive into a book somewhere. Gone again

Hristos se Rodi!  Merry Christmas to my Orthodox friends.  Wishing you all the light and joy of this season! It snowed heavily last night, although we got less than forecast but the skies were that odd yellow colour that comes  with snow.  It’s been snowing off and on all day, and the forecast calls for a major storm this week, starting on Monday night or Tuesday morning.  Jerry (and I) were awoken this morning before 9 by the doorbell.  That was not a great way to wake up, as it sent him into a frenzy of barking.  I got up, thinking unkind thoughts as I thought that my nurse had arrived over an hour early!  Turned out to be a neighbour letting me know that Don had left his keys in the mailbox downstairs when he’d gone to check the mail last night.  I thanked him for letting me know, got dressed and got his keys.  Don’s been complaining of being in a lot of pain in his arm and shoulder, so much so that lifting a coffee cup is excruciating.  I don’t know what to suggest, and he says tha
