Appointment

It’s a lovely summer day, with fairly moderate temperatures and some humidity, but not as bad as last week.  It’s lovely to be able to breathe and not have to be using my inhaler.  Don is also happier to be able to breathe more easily, although he’s having difficulty walking comfortably.  The walk to the garage, he says, has got longer.  The forecast is for more heat and humidity in the next few days, so we’ll have to see how things go.  Jerry was a little hyper today when we went to my doctor’s appointment, not wanting to sit quietly and using my tummy as his personal bouncy castle!  I keep explaining that it hurts, but he just wags his stump and climbs back on me!  It’s peak construction season, and the highway is closed, as are several other main roads in my area, as they replace a highway bridge.  We had to navigate around that, and it was fine on the way to the hospital, with just about 10 minutes of gridlock; but that expanded to almost 30 on the way home!  At least everything worked and we got home safely.  I’ve got limited plans to leave the house on the weekend, so that shouldn’t be a problem for me.

The appointment went well.  I spoke with my doctor about the issue with the pharmacy and the renewal process.  He rolled his eyes at the idea that a new/junior pharmacist could cause that much of a problem, and we’ve got a plan for reducing the issue in the future.  Otherwise, we’re generally happy with me, as I’m apparently tolerating the chemo pretty well — the side effects seem to have cleared up! My taste buds are back — and my pain is again well managed.  According to the hospital scale, I’ve gained a pound (who’d have thought of being excited at gaining a little weight?) and my other readings are all good, DG.  So yay!

I may have some exciting news to share next week, so stay tuned.  I’ll post here if it happens, and if not, please continue with your daily lives LOL  After my niece’s instructions last night, I’m in search of a dress pattern for a 5-year old who is very style and fashion conscious!  My sister is continually amazed at how my niece is so fashion-oriented, as they’re not at all interested in fashion.  I joked that she picked it up from me by osmosis, and that’s about the only explanation we have right now.  But seriously, she cried — real tears — once because a spot of ketchup fell on her t-shirt!  I’ve been scanning my various sites for patterns, and I think that I may have found one, although I’ll probably need to get wool — the instructions are that it MUST be pink!  I don’t think that I have any pink yarn in my stash… The upside is that the “blanket for my doll” doesn’t need to be pink, and I’ve got enough to make a doll blanket!

My elder niece is getting ready for her driving test, which is booked in late August, and she’s excited at the idea of being licensed and “turned loose” 😊  She and her mom did an open day visit to the university, and she’s really thrilled about that.  Thinking back to my university days, I don’t recall being hyped up, it was another school, and I liked school.  First year was a little challenging, balancing studies with all the many on campus activities, but once I settled, it was great.  I don’t imagine that she will have the same difficulties I did, as we only had exams in June, so the first term was for slacking!  They’ve have exams every 6 months or so, meaning that work is probably more intense.  She’s suggesting that I sign up for university classes, as I keep on saying how much I enjoyed studying… the child loves making me eat my words!

That’s about it for tonight.  The kids seem to enjoy planning activities for Auntie, who doesn’t object in the least to these things!  I’ve got to work out when and how I’m going to be able to see them all, as it’s been a while.  Jerry is in a ball on the sofa, and ignoring both of us, and Don is half-watching the news.  It’s about time for my meds, so I’ll leave you and wish you a Good night!
