More snow

It’s been snowing off and on all day today, and it’s just got heavier a little while ago.  Someone sent me this lovely spring-like photo which I thought I’d share with you and perhaps spread some cheer.  I’m over winter — I’m one of those who thinks that it should snow December 24, and everything melt on January 1, which really means that I’m in the wrong part of the world!  Jerry is also tired of snow; he dislikes getting his paws wet, and he only likes walking on packed snow which doesn’t stick to his fur.  Don is good; he was murmuring sweet nothings about not having any cakes / pies / cookies, and I pointed to the ice cream in the freezer, so he had that.  He said something else about not having sweets, so could that be sorted out this week, pretty please?  I’ll see what can happen; there may or may not be baking done, depending on my energy level and whether my throat behaves properly.  It has, thankfully, not worsened, but I still feel a little scratch in the back.  My nurse was here, and she said they will reduce my visits to every other week instead of weekly as I’ve been stable for a while.

Quick update on my cousin’s husband — he’s still in the ICU, waiting to be transferred to a ward, which is a good sign.  His family (wife and children) are allowed short visits, and they said that he’s in good spirits.  We continue to pray for his recovery.

I want to thank my awesome multilingual friends, who have helped translate some Russian patterns into English.  They’re better than Google, which pumped out some gibberish and of course, doesn’t translate photos.  So they gave me something to work with — I was able to find an English-Russian crochet terms lexicon to share so they knew the terms/abbreviations that were used, and were able to clarify some of the handwritten directions.  There’s one pattern that remains incomprehensible, and it’s annoying me as I’d like to figure it out, as it’s a lovely pattern.  Either way, it’s not critical to my enjoyment of life, nor is it essential except that it is a little irritating that I can’t sort it out.

OK, I’m admitting a little obsession… I belong to an online forum that focuses on writing stories related to a particular genre.  It — like every online forum — swings through periods where it’s very busy and when it’s slow.  For the past few years I’ve been avidly reading a few authors, whose work is great.  One did daily posts, but has slowed down because real life intervened, and I’m missing her work.  She’s quite prolific, and I thoroughly enjoy her writing, so I’m waiting impatiently for her to resume her serial.  Another does weekly updates now, and I am avid for Sundays when she posts updates, which are never long enough to suit me.  That’s a good sign, as it means that her work is another source of enjoyment, and I’m greedy enough to wish that she could post more frequently.  I think I’ll need a distraction so I obsess less…

I really dislike this daylight savings time.  It’s later than I think it is because 2 days ago it wasn’t this late, and it throws my sleep off!  That being said, I’m going to try and adjust my sleep schedule a bit so I’m not so exhausted by mid afternoon!  I’m happy that spring is a little closer, and I’ll focus on the upside.  I’ve got to do my evening petting duties; he seems to know that the time has changed and is butting me an hour earlier to complain!  Good night!
