Slava

I spent the day at my sister-friend’s house, just having a quiet meal and chatting.  It was lovely.  I took the little dictator out before I drove over, so he was very upset when I left them alone for a few hours.  He has been on my lap and nagging at me since I got home.  He had a great time scratching and jumping on me.  Don’s been good all day, feeling better and generally improving after his reaction to the flu shot.  I’m happy to see that.  Except for the tiny dictator trying to pull my arm off while he barked loudly at anything that moved — especially a female Rottweiler who would have tried to swallow him in one bite if I’d let him get much closer to her.  She was pretty aggressive.

Major thank you to my awesome friend network.  I got a message this morning from one offering her house for a celebration event, which has resolved my concerns.  It’s so amazing to know that there’s so much support among my friends.  I also got a message from a school friend with a recipe for cupcakes that she had promised to share so I’ll definitely be trying them.  I do really love my friends and deeply appreciate you and your kindness.

So I don’t know if I mentioned that Don loves to watch cop shows and true crime dramas.  I’ve started watching them because of him, too, so I’ve seen ways too many episodes of things like Forensic Files and 48 hours, plus shows like NCIS, Law & Order and Criminal Minds — all shows that present the worst of humanity, while eventually allowing the forces of order to prevail.  Note that I don’t say “good” because life — and those shows — is more complicated than just good and bad.  The things that I’ve learned from watching those shows is to never wear matching underwear sets; don’t go out at night, during the day or at dawn or twilight; don’t go to restaurants or bars alone; don’t talk to people in bars or restaurants; don’t trust people you meet at malls, coffee shops, or art galleries… in short, do nothing.  Go nowhere, meet no one, and you’ll have a chance of not being the victim of a serial killer.  Or if you stay home alone, you might get killed by a random attacker.  The true crime ones are even more scary, as they show people who were killed just going about their daily affairs.  It’s really unnerving to consider that there are such twisted minds as the ones featured on the shows and documentaries.  I really don’t understand the psychology of the criminal mind, no puns intended.  I read that there’s no link between people who watch those shows and increased criminality but we’ve got quite good at solving the storylines so clearly we’re getting better at figuring out the writers!

And now it’s bed time, or at least, time to go pet the dog and get him to calm down again because he’s in high-energy mode right now.  Good night!
