Today is unchanged from yesterday, Unfortunate and annoying, but I'm still not eating and it's bugging me. I'm happy that I'm still sleeping well-I fall asleep reasonably quickly and I'm able to get 8 hours. The only challenge is waking up at an early hour, because I fall back asleep after I've taken my morning medication.  I spent a few minutes sitting out on my balcony today. It was a lovely day, and I enjoyed it, until my back started to spasm, which put an end to sitting outside. I really hope that we can treat my back and get on the road to recovery quickly. JE's frustrating, because I can't sit up too long before my back gets bed.

I spent part of the day watching some old detective TV shows. Specifically Columbo and Mrs. Columbo, which I stumbled upon by accident. I enjoy Columbo and his "how done it" mystery solving. He's very thorough in his investigations and peels back the clues to be able to build the case against the culprit. I used to watch these with my mother when I was a teen. She really enjoyed it, and would try to identify how he unravelled the clues. At this point, I've seen all of the Columbo movies at least twice, so I'm better at understanding how he does it, and in most cases I can figure out how the culprit slipped up!

Mrs Columbo ran for 2 short season-13 episodes in all. I've seen the first 5 episodes now. It features Kate Mulgrew as Det. Columbo's wife. He never appears, in much the same way as Mrs,  Columbo never appears in his series. She solves crimes in her grise of reporter for a weekly neighbourhood newspaper, while she cares for her daughter. (Note. Columbo has said that he and the Mrs have no children) Her stories are much less complicated than his. For me, I'm pleased to  see a young Capraia Janeway as she serves mysteries! It's cool to see her in this different role.

Her show is similar to "Murder, She wrote," in which an ordinary person with a special interest solves murders before the police do. I don't fully understand how the police mess up so many cases that are solved by ordinary people! That aside, I don't think that I'd like to live in small-towns, given that murder victims seem to appear so regularly, and the crimes are solved by amateurs, as the police seem to miss all the clues. In contrast, the gritty "ripped from the headlines" shows are solved by heavily technologically-enhanced specialist teams. I also enjoy those and the true crime documentaries.. I read that fans of time crime programmes are not any more knowledgeable than the average citizen. They neither one better at concealing crimes nor solving them than anyone else. I found that a little disappointing.

I'll continue to enjoy these "classic" shows. I'm entertained by them and I like the main characters. The more modern programmes focus on women who own their own businesses and who manage to solve some baffling mysteries. Some of them are imitating, but it's not critical. It's light entertainment with comfortable stories..

I’ll settle in with one of those while I hope that my tummy responds to the meds and I can finally try to get things sorted.  Good night everyone!
